Obviously, I'm feeling much less sympathetic toward the aforementioned husband today.

when I pick up a paper this morning to see that a gal that I shared a cubicle with for 6-8 months (at a prior job) had gone missing yesterday. I haven't seen her for about 2 years, but I did get an email from her in early 2003 when she started working for my current employer. Given that I haven't seen or heard from her for so long, this hasn't had a terrible impact on me. But it is definitely upsetting me. I feel horribly for her husband (I used to tease her about him being a Stone Cold Steve Austin look-a-like). It's going to be hard enough for him to go through the trauma of probably losing her. But then the eye of suspicion inevitably will be on him. I can't imagine the hell he's going through right now. What a terrible fucking situation. To all my female friends, please don't venture out in potentially dangerous areas alone, if at all possible. We live in a shitty fuckin' world with a lot of shitty fuckin' people.

I am working the overnight shift all this week. So far I'm enjoying the peace and quiet. I could actually enjoy the graves, if I could pick the nights and do 4 ten hour shifts. But that's not an option here, so I'll just enjoy this one week foray. So living with Lorene is much better than I anticipated, so far. However, neither of us have come home in an especially foul mood and taken it out on the other one...yet. Give it time. One funny thing about Lorene is going in to the bedroom and seeing her passed out by 8:30. I knew she did this before moving in with her. But seeing it up close and personal is still bizarre to me. The good thing is that it has a psychological effect on me and makes me want to go to sleep earlier. She doesn't even get after me to go to bed early. I just find myself wanting to. I just got done eating the dinner leftovers that Lorene packed for my lunch tonight. Holy shit, what an amazing cook! Barbecued chicken, squash, mushrooms, caramelized onions, and garlic bread, mmmmm.... Our 3 new cats are entertaining. Al (short for Aleister) is adorable but kind of skittish. And since we added Betty and Melvin, Al's become flat out crazy, constantly dashing all over the house. Hopefully, he calms back down soon. We thought that he was going to be MY cat, but he's been much less friendly to me since we got the other 2. Betty is our sweet little chub. You've got to see this one run. It's feckin' hilarious! She's constantly being chased around by Al. He's absolutely fascinated by her and is hard pressed to leave her alone. Melvin is going to be a lot of fun. He's interested in everything that's going on around the house and is extremely curious. He's not scared of anything that I know of. He sleeps right next to Lorene. He's a little beggar and is always trying to eat Al's food (Al is not on a diet, so he gets the tastiest food). He's also got a crazy look in his eye, and one ear is usually forward while the other one's backward. I would probably have named him Goofball, if he didn't already have a name. He also doesn't mind being picked up and will ride around on your shoulders if you let him.

Glenn Danzig is one of my musical heroes. But if you wanna see him getting what's coming to him, click here.
